Our graduates profileConcrete is the most widely used material in load bearing structures, and concrete structures constitute the major part of all building structures. Therefore, Civil Engineering graduates should not have only knowledge of static and dynamic analysis, planning, designing and constructing of structures, but also a broad knowledge about the physical and mechanical properties of concrete as well as about its manufacturing. These findings are important for the civil engineering graduate, so he can obtain a comprehensive overview of designing of load bearing concrete structures, including also modern construction materials, such as high-quality cement composites, composite and hybrid structures. Considering the degree of the build-up area of industrial countries, the importance of knowledge about the reconstruction of buildings, bridges and other civil engineering structures is rising. Our graduates are prepared to stand the ground also at this task. Part of a civil engineering graduate profile is also the awareness and knowledge about the design of masonry structures. Versatility in practice and compatibility within the EUCivil Engineering graduates with assignment for concrete structures has a very good and wide versatility: in the project practice in designing concrete structures and bridges, as a workers in education and research institutions, in construction practice as a construction managers or workers for investing organizations, government or regional development. Current engineering study programs, as "Structural and transportation engineering" and "Structural design of buildings" are in comparison with other existing programs of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at STU are compatible with programs of study, known at prestigious foreign universities under name "Civil Engineering". This is now a necessary condition for Civil Engineering graduate´s diploma acceptation in abroad. After the accession of the Slovak Republic to the European Union became the compatibility of our study programs in construction field, and thus the compatibility of Civil Engineering graduate a necessary condition for the application in the European labor market. Short introduction of our Department and current (2018) main research activities Annual reports: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 |
