- The laboratory of applied acoustics is focused on complex research in the field of building, room and environmental acoustics, vibration propagation in building structures, as well as research in the field of development of acoustic building materials. The software covers the areas of simulations in room acoustics, building and environmental acoustics, structural analysis and solutions for the propagation of acoustic energy and vibrations in the details of structures. The instrumentation includes a complete set for measuring building acoustics, room acoustics and environmental acoustics. It also has a simulator for artificial mouth to measure speech intelligibility. The laboratory is also equipped with a set up for measuring the propagation of vibrations in building structures. Other equipment is a set up for measuring the dynamic stiffness of soft materials, performing modal analysis of building elements and measuring the sound absorption coefficient (for the perpendicular impact of an acoustic wave).
- The Soundscape laboratory is focused on research in the field of subjective and qualitative assessment in building, room and environmental acoustics. It is also used in the development of musical instruments and subjective evaluation of sound sources. It is built as a semi-anechoic room, in which it is possible to perform laboratory listening tests without the disturbing effects of background noise, and also serves as a semi-professional recording studio. The laboratory has equipment that can be used to measure the sound pressure level, as well as equipment for recording (monaural and binaural) and reproducing any sound using either speakers or headphones.
- The UVP STU BA CENTRUM Regional center, specifically the Laboratory of Building Materials is partly focused on the study of the microstructure of building materials, equipped with devices such as Mercury porosimeter, Thermogravimetric analyzer TGA/DSC, Scanning electron microscope, Tabletop powder X-ray analyzer, Digital Pycnometer, Laser particle size analyzer, etc. Part of the laboratory deals with research and testing of properties of fresh and hardened concrete, ceramics, lightweight concrete, etc. It is equipped with a Climatic chamber, an Automatic freezing and thawing device, Dryers, a Equipment for determining the thermo-technical characteristics of building materials, Analytical balances, a Standard mortar mixer, a Vibrating table, Apparatus for determining the air content of fresh concrete and Test presses for the determination of compressive and tensile flexural strength on mortar and concrete test specimens.
