In the week from October 7th to 11th, 2024, students of the 2nd year of the engineering degree of the building technology study program have traditionally completed a series of excursions to selected buildings and objects. Excursions were organized by the Department of Building Technology of the Faculty of Science within the subject "I1-EX_TS Excursion".
Buildings of various partners were included in the program of excursions - new ones, but also those with which the department has been cooperating for a long time. This broad scope allowed students to go through different topics and follow different stages of construction, focusing on their study profile - building technology. The excursion program in 2024 included the following topics:
New construction in the city center residential area - excursion to the construction of the Millhaus apartment building, a high-rise building by IMMOCAP, s. r. o., in Bratislava, Mlynské nivy development zone, and an excursion to the Klingerka 2 building from the JTRE developer, during which the students also listened to a presentation by the KRANIMEX company, s. r. o., focused on the sale and rental of tower cranes and concrete equipment.
New construction outside the city center residential area - excursion to the construction of an apartment building as part of the Rakyta project in Bratislava's Devínská Nová Ves by Lucron Group, a. s. The students became familiar with the issue of the construction of the first part of the new urban zone, such as the implementation of archaeological research or the lowering of the high underground water level at the construction site using drainage. As part of the presentation of the construction-technological preparation of the building, the students saw the creation of the construction organization project, the construction schedule and the method of updating it over time. The representatives of construction production presented the electronic construction diary and its communication possibilities within the construction project processed with the use of BIM technology.
Engineering construction – excursion to the construction site of the Public Transport Support System, 2nd. part Bosákova – Janíkov dvor, whose investor is the Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava. At the construction site, which the students have visited several times, the students viewed the final stages of the construction of the tram line - completion of the tram superstructure, construction of stops and preparation for the installation of the traction line. The professional side of the excursion was provided by the contractor of the construction, the NS Petržalka Public Transport Association. The students also visited the construction site of the Modernization of the Maintenance Base – 3rd. stage , Krasňany depot, within which the renovation and modernization of the tram and bus depot of Dopravný podnik Bratislava, a. s., in Rača, Bratislava, is being carried out. They became familiar with the issues of modernization of a specific construction with extensive technological equipment from the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, in which the maintenance of Bratislava's public transport vehicles is carried out.
Technology of restoration of historical buildings and national cultural monuments (NKP) – in Banská Štiavnica, students again this year took a professional excursion focused on the restoration of historical buildings after a fire, which was provided by the company Obnova, s. r. o. Since 2000, the iconic building of the department store Dunaj on Bratislava's SNP square has also been a national cultural monument, which is currently undergoing restoration. While preserving architectural values, the restoration is guided by the principles of sustainability. The neighboring building, an extension from the 1970s known as the House of Clothing, is also undergoing reconstruction and restoration. The professional excursion was provided by the company SYTIQ, a. s.
Prefabrication, formwork and scaffolding - excursion to the prefabrication plant of the company INVEST, s.r.o., in the Dusla Šaľa area, where students became familiar with the technology for prestressed structures, the manufacture of prefabrication formwork, reinforcement, as well as the actual concreting of prefabrications, and an excursion to the company PERI, s.r.o., in Senec, which is a manufacturer and supplier of system formwork for reinforced concrete structures and scaffolding.
The excursion program was, as every year, challenging, but rich in new information, and the students were able to take away a lot of interesting knowledge that expanded their knowledge and skills, and which they can use in further studies or in practice.
The Department of Building Technology SvF would like to thank all partners, as well as colleagues, who participated in the preparation of the excursion program and in ensuring their professional and organizational aspects and looks forward to further cooperation.
