The Foreign Police of the Slovak Police Corps (Oddelenie cudzineckej polície policajného zboru (OCP PZ)) provided the Slovak Rector's Conference with following statement (free translation):
Restrictions on OCP PZ's working hours apply to all submissions except the following:
- The third-country nationals may apply for a temporary residence permit,
- The third-country nationals may apply for permanent residence for an unlimited period (Paragraph 46 of the Aliens Residence Act),
- Other submissions may only be made in cases worthy of special consideration, subject to prior approval by the Director of the Border and Foreign Police Directorates (RHCP in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Prešov).
Thus, any case falling under point 3 must first be called to the appropriate director of the Border and Foreign Police Directorates, who must give his consent for filing. In Bratislava, contact following director please:

For EU citizens and their family members, their residence registration is not currently carried out. They have the right of residence automatically by law and by the treaty on the functioning of the EU as such. Once the epidemiologic measures are lifted, they can come to the OCP PZ and register their stay. During the period of measures in force, they shall not be penalized for a possible breach of the obligation to register residence pursuant to Paragraph 66 Section 1 or Paragraph 70 Section 9 of the Aliens Residence Act.
In the case of short-term stays of the foreigners (up to 90 days) who are unable to leave the Slovak Republic due to the current situation in the world, the procedure is as follows:
If they have a visa for a period of less than 90 days, they may apply for an extension of the visa at the relevant OCP PZ (the maximum possible length is 90 days). If they already have 90 days visas and will still not be able to travel, then it is necessary to come to OCP PZ immediately after their expiry. They will be given a decision on administrative expulsion without a ban on entry within a 30-day travel period. During these 30 days they will be able to remain in the territory of the Slovak Republic (they will remain in the regime of staying in the territory of the Slovak Republic pursuant to Paragraph 61a of the Aliens Residence Act).
If the situation does not change even then, on the last day of the 30-day period they must visit the OCP PZ again (where the decision on administrative expulsion was issued) and apply for an extension of the travel period. This will be prolonged accordingly, taking into account the current situation in the Slovak Republic, the EU and their home country (it may be extended for several months). The same procedure for issuing a decision on expulsion will also apply to visa-free aliens after 90 days of entry.
The above does not apply to students who hold a Certificate of the Slovak Person Living Abroad and have applied for temporary residence under Paragraph 29 of the Aliens Residence Act. In such a case, they may continue to be in the territory of the Slovak Republic until the decision on their application (or longer, if the stay is granted).
