Katedra hydrotechniky Stavebnej fakulty STU sa zapojila koncom roku 2022 do novovzniknutej Pan-Európskej siete pre trvalo udržateľnú vodnú energiu vedenú v rámci projektov European Cooperation in Science and Technology COST Action CA21104 pod názvom “Pan-European Network for Sustainable Hydropower -PEN@Hydropower”. Profesor Andrej Šoltész ako zástupca katedry bol jedným z prvých, ktorý sa do tejto siete zapojil. V súčasnosti pozostáva táto sieť z viac ako 50 krajín nielen z EU, má svoju manažérsku skupinu (MG) a 5 pracovných skupín (WG´s), ktoré zabezpečujú vývoj a postavenie vodnej energie z rôznych pohľadov. Profesor Šoltész je členom MG za Slovensko a zároveň je členom WG 3 pre udržateľnú vodnú energiu v podmienkach klimatickej zmeny. Úlohou tejto pracovnej skupiny je zabezpečenie potrebnej medziodborovej spolupráce na uľahčenie udržateľného rozvoja v odvetví vodnej energie, ktorý zohľadňuje priemyselné, environmentálne a spoločenské potreby v meniacej sa klíme.
Jednou z výchovných aktivít siete Pen&Hydropower je séria koncentrovanej výučby na tému udržateľný rozvoj vodnej energie v tzv. Training Schools. Jedna z nich sa konala v termíne 7. - 11. mája 2024 v Thessalonikách, Grécko a medzi schválenými uchádzačmi bol aj študent našej fakulty, študijného programu Vodné stavby a vodné hospodárstvo Bc. Roman Tóth. Odborný program podujatia spočíval z prednášok, spoločných odborných aktivít, návštev vodných elektrární v severnom Grécku a ukončený bol spoločnými prezentáciami účastníkov školenia.
Myslím, že účasť Romana na tomto podujatí obohatila jeho odborný záujem o problematiku využitia vodnej energie v Európskom priestore a získané vedomosti pretaví do štúdia vodných stavieb na našej fakulte.
